What do you love most about Yass Valley?Above all I find it a friendly place to live. We have everything we need here is Yass Valley and it hosts a diverse range of people with many skills that allow all of us to shop local. It is not far to travel to Sydney if you need a city getaway and though I would love the coast to be a little bit closer it’s still manageable in a day if you need a salt water fix. What was your deciding factor in choosing to nominate as a candidate? For me there are many big projects underway that I have been involved in, and many in the pipeline that I have been keeping a close eye on, so I thought it was important for continuity to see these projects through and ensure that the ones coming up were done with good consultation with community. What are your strongest skills and how will they benefit the constituents in Yass Valley?I’m a true “go getter”. I’ve never taken a back seat in anything I do or wait for someone else to do it for me. I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into everything I do and you can guarantee that I won’t point a finger at someone and tell them that they need to deliver a project and wait idly for it to happen. I'm an innovative thinker and problem solver and my approach is the see an issue, work out a solution, pitch it, encourage others to get involved and get it done. What do you see as the highest priorities across Yass Valley, short and long term?Water is a major project that we need to deliver. For Yass itself and surrounding towns/villages that tap into Yass water, we need clean and reliable water. This project is underway, and we should see it completed by 2028.For the growth of Murrumbateman securing a water source is also paramount so this needs to be a high priority and followed up often.Ensuring that we are keeping up with our settlement strategy whilst ensuring the services and infrastructure match is another huge priority. Finally, why should we vote for you?You should vote for me because I am an open and honest person. I have always been transparent with the community about my views and why I vote a particular way. There is no Councillor that will do a full term without having to make a tough decision that they know will impact someone, or an entire community, in a way that they might not like. You can be certain that with every tough decision I make it's not done lightly, and I ensure that I do my own consultation with the community and not rely solely on Councils recommendations or presented submissions.
