Growing up in Kiama and following a stint in Sydney completing University, I moved to Murrumbateman in 2011 with my husband after receiving a fantastic opportunity to work in Canberra.
We purchased a cottage in Murrumbateman Village, have two children that attend Murrumbateman Primary and I have recently joined the Yass Valley Dental team as a Dental Hygienist and now our whole life is centred in the Yass Valley.
In 2021 I ran for Council as a candidate with encouragement from other sitting Councillors and community members, as I had been actively participating in the Murrumbateman community.
With a term under my belt I truly feel ready to grow into the role and continue to support the community and so I’m running again. I want to continue to learn all I can about Local Government and will ensure I am enrolling into courses that are made available to Councillors to support this growth.
My core values are Community, Communication and Connection and this is evident in my work in the community as resident and Councillor.
I have founded many groups to enable community connection including Murrumbateman Little Athletics in 2019, Murrumbateman Ladies Events group that supports rural women in forming friendships whilst supporting local businesses at the same time and most recently a Kids that Crochet Club which supports intergenerational connection and skill sharing.
In 2021 I gained the support of the Honourable Kristy McBain and achieved a $750,000 grant for a playground for Murrumbateman and I’d love to see more of these projects come to life in Yass Valley.
Communication needs a major overhaul in Council and I will ensure that current polices are reviewed with community input to ensure that effective communication can prevail between Council and Community.
Councillor or not I am a passionate community supporter and volunteer at heart and always will be and look forward to a new term in a diverse Council as your representative if re-elected.
